Some tightness and redness will occur in all clients after treatment but the procedure itself is virtually pain free.
Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to administer making Microdermabrasion popular for people with a busy schedule or a lunch hour to spare. The slight redness that occurs after the procedure dies down quickly and clients can usually return to work or go about their daily business immediately after.
The usual redness or streaking of skin that occurs in all patients immediately after the treatment may, on occasion, continue for a day or so and sensitive skin around the eyes can become swollen. However, cold compresses will help to get rid of this side effect.
Deeper treatments aimed at scar tissue or stretch marks may produce some spotting of blood, with healing taking around 3 - 4 days.
There is a very small risk of mild pigment changes to the skin that generally clear up within a month and the risk of any scarring is very rare with this procedure.
Most people over the age of 18 years are suitable for Microdermabrasion. As its a non-invasive mild procedure, it will not tackle deep-set wrinkles or heavy scarring with any real success. Please refer to our other treatments for such problems.
This will depend on the results you wish to achieve. Some clients just require a refresher for a pick-me-up rejuvenation such as before an event. Others may wish to have a longer term solution to healthy looking skin. In this case the procedure can be repeated every week or so for a series of 6 to 10 sessions. You may also wish for maintenance treatments which could be scheduled every three or four months thereafter.
Our practitioners provide post treatment advice but, as the treatment is so mild, a cold compress will reduce any swelling and heat and you can usually continue your normal routine without much disruption.
The treatment may cause temporary redness in some cases which usually subsides quickly.
